Wholesale vs. Retail

If you can walk into your corner jewelry store and buy something out of the case, why consider a wholesale jeweler? Quite simply, because you get exactly what you want at a price that’s remarkably lower.

As far as design goes, when you deal with a retail store you get what you see...and not much more. But with Carat Corp we do more than just present you with a few options to choose from; we manufacture jewelry one piece at a time. With us, you are included in every step of the process, from design to stone selection, to insure the ring you get is perfectly suited for you.

In addition, we have strong relationships with diamond cutters and manufacturers. Our understanding of the global diamond trade makes us especially skilled at negotiating lower costs for our clients. What that means for you is appraisals that often come in 30- to 50-percent higher than the actual cost of your Carat Corp piece.

Diamond Certification

Diamond grades, country of origin, synthetics and gemstone enhancements are all important in determining the quality of gems and jewelry. Therefore, we partner with gemological laboratories to supply, and verify, important information about diamonds and gemstones. Having your diamond certified validates that the stones you purchase are of the highest quality and value.

Appraisals

An appraisal is a document stating the approximate retail replacement value of an item based on current market data. The cut, color, clarity and carat weight of the gemstones are combined with the weight of precious metals and the craftsmanship of the piece to determine a value.

Having an appraisal insures that in case of loss, theft or damage, your insurance company will give you an equal replacement for your item. Your insurance agency can refer to a current appraisal when calculating a coverage rate or replacement value for your fine jewelry.

All of the vintage pieces of jewelry are sold with an appraisal at no additional cost. However, if an appraisal is desired for any other piece, Carat Corp can certainly arrange that for you. These appraisals are done by a third party in keeping with our strict ethical standards.

Insurance

To properly guarantee the safety of your jewelry, there are two things to consider. The first is to know your diamond. The second is to insure it.

Like a fingerprint, every diamond carries with it distinct markers that distinguish it from all others. Knowing the inclusions and subtle imperfections of your stone is vital to identifying your diamond.

And because things sometimes get lost or stolen, Carat Corp recommends you always insure your jewelry. A rider for fine jewelry is available with most policies.
